II. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. Is it gel polish or regular nail polish?

Umia uses a professional gel polish system, cured and applied through an automated process.

2. How long does the Umia gel polish last?

Wear time can vary based on pre-service preparation, nail type, aftercare, and lifestyle, with typical results lasting approximately 5–10 days.
Pre-Service Preparation:
All existing nail embellishments must be removed before using the Umia Automated Nail System. For best results, we recommend a professional manicure in advance to refine nail shape, surface quality, and cuticle care. If you opt for the express service (no manual preparation), please ensure nails are clean and dry by wiping each nail with a preparation wipe to remove any cream, oil, or dust before service.
Nail Type:
Natural nail characteristics—such as dryness, oiliness, or brittleness—can influence adhesion and overall wear longevity.
Aftercare:
Appropriate aftercare helps extend wear, including moisturising nails and cuticles and avoiding actions that could compromise the gel's adhesion.
Lifestyle:
Certain activities—such as prolonged exposure to hot baths and steam, extended contact with water or household chores without protection, and exposure to cleaning chemicals—can soften or weaken the gel layer and shorten wear time.

3. How do you remove Umia gel polish?

Umia gel polish can be removed using standard gel-removal methods, including acetone wraps or soak-off techniques, either at home or through a professional removal service.

4. Service Limitations

Umia service is powered by our computer vision algorithm but it does come with limitations. Nails with 6mm+ apex in height or 35mm+ in length may experience reduced precision or incomplete pattern application.

5. Results may differ from what you see on screen

  • Lighting and natural nail variation: Visual appearance may vary due to different lighting conditions (e.g. indoor lighting versus natural daylight) as well as individual differences in natural nail color and tone.
  • Design adaptation: Our algorithm intelligently adjusts each nail art design to suit your unique nail shape, size, and length, which means the final result may differ slightly from the images displayed on our app or website.

6. Is it normal to feel heat during the manicure?

A slight warming sensation may occur during curing. This is normal.
